i tried to compare the moon
to everything under it;
a tarnished dime,
robin's breast
lock of hair
and fire's crest
and it occurred to me
that I was eclipsed
by the ground
beneath my feet,
unable to look at the stars
and truly understand
what they were saying.

Amber eyes,
Graceful strides,
Peaceful purring,
Never stirring,

A few months ago there was a blood moon and I couldn't sleep at all because I just kept writing things down.
Editted this up a while ago to give it a bit more rhythm. I've been writing a lot lately, but a lot of it is bigger works that I'm saving to apply for poetry competitions that don't like submissions to be published anywhere-- I'll post a few of my favorites if they ever win, or if I decide to put them out to pasture. (:
